What to check before choosing
No-code tools are most useful when the process is clear before the interface is built. A form collects information; a database gives it structure; an internal app helps someone act on it. Map that journey first so you can evaluate the smallest tool that supports it reliably.
Model the information
Build a small example with the relationships and validation your process needs. Check how duplicate, incomplete and corrected records are handled, rather than testing only a clean first submission.
Test permissions and integrations
Try the workflow as a respondent, an operator and an administrator. Confirm which records each role can access and what happens when a connected service rejects a request or becomes unavailable.
Plan maintenance and export
Check how you export records and attachments, manage changes and recover mistakes. Self-hosting can offer control, but someone still needs to own updates, backups and access reviews.
